Ministry Development Phases
-
1a. Secure the Land - COMPLETE!
We have been offered a 35-acre plot in rural Matobo Disctrict that has some existing structures at a great price.
The land is partly arable and partly rocky, and we can use it for multiple activities.
Part “a” has been completed!!
-
1b. Make it Productive
Once the land is purchased, we will:
Survey and drill a well
Bring electricity to the land
Move our chicken flocks to the land
Increase the variety of production
Maintain the aim to display regenerative/conservation agriculture models
Phase 1b can be completed with $38,800 more!
-
2. Establish a Presence
For years we have been (unintentionally) nomadic.
Now we can plant ourselves right in the community; living out the gospel; and seek to do our part in addressing the traumas from the genocide many years ago.
Phase 2 can be completed with $45,000 above Phase 1!
-
3. Engage and Host
One of the plans for the property from the current owner was to construct a few traditional style Ndebele round huts.
The rocky part of the property is a perfect spot for this, and it would create an opportunity to host people who want to learn from the surrounding Ndebele community.
We can facilitate agrotourism, cultural tourism, and community engagement.
Phase 3 only takes $14,000 to finish the campaign, meaning $119,000 in all!
Planned areas on the property- Grazing (green), Intensive Farming (red), and lodging (yellow).
The type of chicken houses we grow conventional broilers in with our own feed.
The rocky base where traditional houses can be built, and the outcroppings as a backdrop.
The community opportunities will be endless. The local primary school is only 3km away from the plot.
