Other Needs Listed Below :)

Current Ministry Needs

  • 1. Increase our Solar Electricity Capacity ($1,800)

We have seen the immense help that getting a basic solar power system for our house at the ministry base has been to us and the couple of team member’s homes it is connected to.

However, electricity from the grid continues to be unreliable and our current system does not allow us to supply power overnight to security floodlights and important freezers.

We need to put additional panels and another battery to take care of this energy shortfall. Thank you for helping us achieve this goal!

  • 2. Build a Milk Processing Room ($2,500)

As word spreads in the community that Ukuthula Farm has dairy products for sale, we have seen customers come from near and far! This is wonderful for building relationships and “sprinkling salt” and being a light.

Currently, all milk processing, packaging, and sales happen out of our house.

By building a Milk Processing Room adjacent to the house, we can provide a dedicated space to packaging products and get our chilling freezer onto the solar power (it’s currently in another building that doesn’t have access to the solar). It would also clear space so that our family kitchen can function better. We already have a roof, so we just need to enclose it, put a floor, and bring electricity out to it. Please consider helping us streamline how we process milk for the community!

  • 3. Upgrade Ministry Vehicles ($12,000)

The 2001 Nissan Hardbody has served us well since 2018. However, now the repairs on it cost more than what regular maintenance should be. By trading in vehicles and adding $12,000, we can move to a manager’s small truck, keep the 1998 Toyota Surf to haul feed, transport equipment and produce, and upgrade the family vehicle to fit 3 car seats and travel to different project sites. Please pray with us and consider partnering with us for this big goal!

  • FUNDED & ABOUT TO BEGIN: Build a Bathroom & Bedroom

—CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN SOON—In an effort to move our family to the new ministry base quickly and economically, we used an existing foundation and its parameters and did minimal indoor plumbing. The current indoor bathroom has only a toilet and sink- the shower is outside and there is no bathtub. Also, the girls’ bedroom is small and functional but will become tight once the third girl joins the crew!

With the family growing, we are expressing our desire to extend the house by 48 sq meters (516sq ft) to include another bedroom, an indoor shower and tub, and closets (this home has zero closets or cupboards currently).

Thank you for helping our family live a bit more comfortably while on the mission field!

  • FUNDED & ABOUT TO BEGIN: Milk and Egg program for Single Mothers

While we initially had ideas to partner with a local school, we began to see how many single mothers and young children were coming to the farm asking for piece jobs. So to begin with less start up costs, we would like to start providing fresh milk and eventually eggs to these mothers as a way to increase their overall nutrition. Once the program is running, we will learn how to best grow it to hopefully reach the nearby primary school.

The amount is funded! We will now begin looking where to best purchase the dairy cow from. Stay tuned!
